Recently, Companies House announced that they were introducing a requirement for all directors and persons with significant control (PSC) to verify their identity with Companies House.

We have now had confirmation of the date that this will be introduced and this will vary depending on whether you are a director, a person with significant control (PSC), or both, as follows:
- If you are a director you will need to provide the code for confirmation statements that are filed for each relevant company on or after 18 November 2025.
- If you are a PSC and director of the same company, you will need also need to provide the code as a PSC using a separate service within 14 days of each relevant company’s confirmation statement date after 18 November 2025. There will be a separate service for this which is not yet available.
- If you are a PSC but not a director, the deadline for providing your code using this separate service is the 14th day of your birth month.
- If you become a PSC after 18 November 2025 you must provide your code within 14 days.
- For new company incorporations from 18 November 2025, the personal code must be provided for each director as part of the registration, and for each PSC within 14 days.
Companies House personal codes will be needed for additional roles and filings in due course.
